I first got to know Stefan as the burly, no-nonsense Muay Thai coach at Masters academy in Plymouth. Training on Monday is the fitness and conditioning day where Stefan would take on the spirit of a drill sergeant and have everyone in attendance jumping, squatting, sweating, and heaving in no time at all. It came as no surprise at all to later find out he was an Army veteran with an extensive military career behind him.
A man who has dedicated his life to service, wellness, and the arts. Based out of Plymouth, Stefan joined the British Army at the age of 16 where he served for the next 26 years. His experiences in the military shaped his understanding of the world and the challenges that service people face, particularly with regards to mental health.
Recognising the impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on veterans, Stefan founded The Warrior Within Project Plymouth. This initiative uses the healing power of nature to support individuals dealing with mental health issues. Through Muay Thai training, cold water therapy, and meditation, Stefan's project provides brotherhood and refuge for ex-service men and women.
