Water companies have been failing UK citizens with its responsibility to keeping our waters clean and safe for local wildlife and those with a connection to the water.
The sheer volume of pollution entering our water means the UK consistently ranks as one of the worst European countries for coastal water quality and only 14% of our rivers warrant ‘good’ ecological status.
In 2023, sewage was discharged nearly 400k times. Many fell ill in a town very close to me, Brixham, after a virus had polluted the tap water sending many residents to hospital and forcing the rest to boil their water for many months. The water companies are failing us and this has resulted in headline news across the UK this year.
This is a protest project aiming to raise awareness to the issue by recruiting those with a vested interest in clean waters to be subjects in the series.
